Four-Year Rhythm

What to Expect

CHOICES
  • Prayerful, thoughtful choices regarding curriculum and instruction with a willingness to listen

  • A desire to choose good, beautiful, worthy things to study

  • Assignments that cultivate true learning

  • Ample time spent reading Scripture, fables, myths, fairy tales, folk tales, legends, poetry

  • Curricula that comes from a variety of orthodox theological backgrounds.

  • In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.

STRUCTURE
  • We are not a school - we are a homeschool community excited to partner with you as you homeschool your children.

  • Most classroom teachers will be homeschool parents, grandparents, or homeschool graduates.

  • This is full curriculum - we recommend choosing one program for your core classes. Classes fulfill high school transcript needs.

  • Students will follow codes of conduct and be respectful of the Lord, their neighbors, teachers, and the building.

  • Students will aim to complete their work.

STUDENT COMMITMENT
  • A commitment to continue to grow in our understanding of Christian, classical education

  • Parent and classroom teachers will attend weekly 1.5-hour equipping sessions during community days, and training in the summer.

  • While we are aiming for excellence, this is a relatively new program. We are unaware of other whole family cycle homeschool programs, so this is a unique endeavor.  Adjustments will likely be needed, so a heart of graciousness and flexibility on the part of teachers, students, and parents will be necessary for a successful year.

GROWTH
  • We are honored to partner with you as you lead your family's homeschool as you hold the honor and responsibility for the formation of your child’s soul.

  • Parents remain the authority in their homeschools and are responsible for their child's education.

  • All parents and teachers are required to be on campus one morning a week for an Equipping class.

  • Lower-form parents are required to be on campus once a week to serve as classroom teacher assistants and recess helpers and are welcome to visit or sit in classes anytime.

  • Upper-form parent teachers are welcome anytime and are encouraged to visit.

  • Parent teachers of 3rd - 6th graders will be required to attend The Art of Language (IEW, Grammar) with their child the first year.

  • Families/students will have some times assigned to help set up and tear down.

  • Parents will aim to connect to their students' education and the Juniper community.

PARTNERSHIP WITH FAMILIES
  • Leaders, teachers, families, and students will honor the differences in interpretation of Scripture that different families hold, understanding that different views on baptism, predestination, liturgies, etc., are not to divide us but unite us under the banner of Jesus Christ. Discussion and disagreements can help us all to uncover truth and will be done in a spirit of love and humility. (In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity.)

  • Understand the statement of belief: Families and students will not make choices that, in word or deed, fight against the statement of belief. Again, conversations and wrestling with truth are always welcome. A search for truth differs from an antagonistic stance against the statement of belief. As part of this group, families, students, and leaders agree to uphold and not work against these beliefs in word, deed, and/or attitude.
